Forget Website Architecture, Make Your Own Bread Instead!

I was going to write a short piece about website architecture, but as I was pulling some reference materials together I took a detour and found something a little more interesting. A clip on how to make great bread. And oh wow does it look good! And simple, too.

Don’t get me wrong, I think website architecture is very interesting. But  a website can’t be toasted, slathered with fresh creamy butter and homemade strawberry jam!

Anyway, I digress. You’ve got to try this recipe and tell me how it works out for you. Perfect timing too since it’s Friday and we have all weekend to practice. We are told – as you will see, that a six year old could do this so most of us shouldn’t have too much difficulty, I hope.

What will we need? Three cups of flour, a quarter teaspoon of instant yeast,  a cup and a half of water and some whole wheat flour. All the directions are explained in the clip below so I don’t have to go into greater detail

But before you run to the kitchen, I have to tell you something. I see more each day that simplicity in all things is what we should aim for  And that includes simplicity in web design and development. Think haiku, think bonsai.  I’ve found teachers in many places and in many forms and this theme of simplicity is a recurring one, just as it is in the humble act of making bread.

Here are two of those teachers I’d like to introduce you to and whose work I admire: Daniel Eatock and Jeffrey Vaska. Please do check out their Indexhibit project here: INDEXHIBIT.ORG

Now, go make some bread. I will too, but first I’m going to ride my bicycle 50 miles so I can enjoy guilt free carb replacement therapy.
